They function entirely based off of volunteer work, and any funds they collect go right back into taking care of the cats, which could be any medical needs or just the basics of buying litter and food. A typical day in the life of one of these volunteers involves, entering the building around midday to be greeted by anywhere from 30 to 40 different cats at a time, feeding them in different locations throughout the store, cleaning litterboxes, and clean

"Start your day with a fresh start" -- Danielle Kale    Fresh start , a quaint, family-owned establishment that can be found along Route 30 in York, PA. Walking in, customers inhale a welcoming aroma of coffee and fresh cooked foods. A slightly modern but rustic atmosphere can be seen; dark grey walls leading into the kitchen, natural wooden floors, shiplap walls following the back of the building, and glistening white marble countertops. More natural wood can be found in accents throughout the building, one right in the front spelling out "Fresh Start" directly above the metal opening leading into the kitchen where the chefs set the food to be taken to the eager customers. The friendly faces of the waitresses retrieving the food from the opening, hustling around to the tables filled with customers who regularly bring their business here. Turning again and looking behind the bar, a short, blonde lady that is constantly conversing with anyone that walks in the door c

A Hard Journey

As you enter Oaxaca Restaurant, your eyes are greeted with the vibrant colors of a traditional Mexican Restaurant . Red, blue, lime green, and orange hues are each featured on the walls, and the restaurant is decorated throughout by hand-selected, authentic artifacts imported straight from Mexico. Customers are initially greeted by Normando, a middle-aged Mexican American with short hair, "Buenas, bienvenidos a mi hogar" he enthusiastically greets whenever a customer walks through the door. "I purposefully say "mi hogar" when greeting a customer so that they feel they are a part of my home," he reveals in a slight Spanish accent. The beauty of the restaurant, however, is a distraction from the trials and tribulations that the average business owner has to endure. Luckily, Normando and Angela's resilience goes to show their drive to succeed in the hospitality industry.  Oaxaca Restaurant Angela, the mastermind behind the project, is Normando's partn

Chinese elements are also incorporated into the décor of the restaurant, such as red curtains, carved wooden furniture, Chinese calendars, and the famous Chinese architecture: the Oriental Pearl Tower. Sichuan Chicken           An aroma hits his nose and makes his mouth water. The sound of knives cutting vegetables and pots and pans emanates from the kitchen, where a chef wears a white chef's outfit, complete with a high, white hat and mask to ensure food safety and hygiene. Contractors Edge of Rt 309

Image
Located on the side of Rt. 309 you will find a lengthy store building called Contractors Edge of PA. It shares its location on a gravel lot with 2 other companies. Cermaniro Stone and its sister company TreeEx.  You park your car on the gravel lot behind the freshly laid stone sidewalk and walk into the black gates that separate the store from the lot. You open the hefty glass door, walk inside, and are greeted with the harsh, nose-curling smell of pesticides and fertilizers. To your left is a wooden shelf filled with mailboxes and buckets with handpainted flowers. There's fake grass on the left side of the floor and you'll find that this side of the store has more products focused on hydroponics, fertilizers, and pond care. To your right Kelly green shelves line the store all the way to the back, you can see that's where the smell of pesticides is coming from. On this side, products are more focused on contractors and arborists.  You walk along the patchy brick-red floors

Honors College

Image
Honors College sounds like an intimidating program. When students first hear about it, words like time-consuming, extensive, and hard come to mind. However, what most students don’t know is how Honors College makes it a goal to motivate students to have a better experience in college. It gives students the upper hand with smaller class sizes, scholarship opportunities, and, overall more concentration on them as students. Lycoming Hall, Picture from Bloomsburg University  If a student chooses to live on campus as an honors student, they’ll live in Lycoming Hall. It is an L-shaped building with five floors, including the newly renovated basement that houses two classrooms and an open study area, that is constantly full of students playing games or studying. They are placed with cohorts of other incoming freshmen who are going through the same feelings and experiences as them, which allows them to form genuine connections that last long after college finishes. Andruss Library

Image
Everyone has a place they go to do homework,  test,  or any schoolwork where they focus the most and get the most done. Some places can be your bed, your  room, your kitchen, outside, or a study lounge. Andruss Library has always been a place to go where you can work on your schoolwork and other activities in a peaceful environment. Photo 1  Andruss  is an extremely comfortable place just walking through those heavy metal doors. College students tend to make their way over to Starbucks before heading into the library, which is one room away. First walking in you can hear the mummers of students talking with their friends in that room, the beeping of orders and workers shouting whose drink is up. Past what looks like metal detectors the sound of the people in Starbucks slowly fades into the distance, and Linda will be waiting for you at the front desk.   Linda the librarian,  who is  in about her 50s or 60 s, will  always be found at the front desk before you walk in. She always has a s
